Be warned that if you start reading “Corrupted Innocence” in the evening， as I did， you may also find yourself unable to put it down， even when you don’t finish until 3:00 AM。 Like me。 Author Maesha Stone has created a story that I think is truly one of her best， and that’s saying something because I always seem to enjoy her work。 Charlie is the nickname everyone uses for Charlotte， a young woman who has devoted her life to two things: （1） continuing the deli business started by her beloved pare Be warned that if you start reading “Corrupted Innocence” in the evening， as I did， you may also find yourself unable to put it down， even when you don’t finish until 3:00 AM。 Like me。 Author Maesha Stone has created a story that I think is truly one of her best， and that’s saying something because I always seem to enjoy her work。 Charlie is the nickname everyone uses for Charlotte， a young woman who has devoted her life to two things: （1） continuing the deli business started by her beloved parents and （2） trying to save her older brother from the consequences of his addictions。 Nikolai just happened to be along with them when men who work for him encountered the sister of a man who owes his family money， instead of the man himself。 The deadbeat brother left her to face them and vanished。 Desperate to save her big brother， Charlie volunteers herself as part of the transaction。 She’s simultaneously relieved and horrified when Nikolai accepts her offer。 Nikolai is intrigued by Charlotte， dealing with personal family issues， running his part of the family ‘business’， and trying to determine if there’s a traitor in their midst。？Charlie and Nikolai are both multidimensional characters， and that’s what makes this story so entertaining; they both sometimes act in ways you don’t expect them to。 The chemistry between them confounds them both。 There are some unexpected developments in the story， and I liked how they were handled。 If you’re familiar with other books by this author， it’s nice to see a few main characters from those books appear as secondary characters in this one。 I’m looking forward to another book in this series。I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily sharing my thoughts and opinions。 I also purchased a copy on Amazon。 。。。more

So good…Charlie’s irresponsible brother left her to deal with the mafia enforcers coming to collect on his debt。 Nikolai decided to personally collect on the payment due to his family， which ultimately ended up as a best case scenario… I received a free copy of this book。 This review was posted voluntarily。

This is a case of its not you， it’s me。 I really loathe stories where people let their loved ones do them wrong with no consequences or repercussion。 That in itself is wrong 。 Let alone allowing his sister to sell herself for his greed and no further mention of him or of how he was going to help her pay his debt。 I have no empathy for such nonsensical character because the reality is， ur just as complicit as him in being dumb。 DNF

I have previously read and enjoyed Measha Stone， which had me eager to dive into Corrupted Innocence。 It promised so many elements that I love， and I was eager to enter another world I had no wish to leave。While Corrupted Innocence was a quick and addictive read， I did not love it to the same degree that I have loved other Measha Stone stories。 It kept me engaged and turning the pages， yet everything felt a little too easy with this one。 There was nothing with it that surprised me， and the piece I have previously read and enjoyed Measha Stone， which had me eager to dive into Corrupted Innocence。 It promised so many elements that I love， and I was eager to enter another world I had no wish to leave。While Corrupted Innocence was a quick and addictive read， I did not love it to the same degree that I have loved other Measha Stone stories。 It kept me engaged and turning the pages， yet everything felt a little too easy with this one。 There was nothing with it that surprised me， and the pieces fell into place well before all the details were provided which took away a bit of the fun。 Add in the fact that I did not feel the romance between the characters – although I did enjoy them – and this one didn’t quite tick the boxes for me。All in all， this made for quick and easy reading， yet it didn’t quite pack the punch I had hoped it would。 。。。more
